Purpose: To explore and photograph Callanish Stone Circle and it's neighbouring megalithic sites.

The ferry route is operated by Caledonian MacBrayne - commonly known as CalMac.
The Uig to Tarbert route connects the village 'Uig' on the Isle of Skye to 'Tarbert', which is the main settlement on the Isle of Harris in the Western Isles of Scotland.
There are up to 2 crossings per day and accepts foot passengers and vehicles. The crossing time is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The climate is usually mild and reasonably dry. June is in the summer in Isle of Lewis and is typically the 3rd warmest month of the year. Daytime maximum temperatures average around a cool 14°C (57°F), whilst at night 8°C (47°F) is normal.

Some of the larger pubs and hotels in Stornoway are now open, as is the Doune Braes Hotel in the West near to the Callanish Stones.

Eileanfraoich Campsite : (fee per night: One Man Tent = £7.00 + £5.00 for car = £12.00).

This is not a campsite, however having contacted via email 'Mairi' has confirmed that I can pitch a small tent free of charge. A fee of £5 per night is charged for use the facilities (toilet, shower, etc.)
